I find smoothies a great option when I don’t have a lot of time for breakfast in the morning or want to fill hungry kids with energy filled options without cooking!

Being lactose intolerant, like a lot of people, my smoothies are either, almond milk, coconut milk or avocado based.

My kids favourite is a mix of almond milk (500ml for 3 glasses) blended with a big banana or 2 small ones, 3 tbsp of chia seeds and a lot of cinnamon! Natural pure almond milk is gentle on the guts, banana (good source of potassium which helps balancing sodium levels in the body) adds texture and sweetness, chia seeds contribute to the thicker texture and are a good source of omega 3 and fibres and finally cinnamon. Well I have to admit that I love cinnamon so its taste is my first reason but it also is a super food, anti-oxydant, anti-inflammatory and helps regulating blood sugar level. This smoothie is loved by all.

My favourite is a green smoothie. I blend together 1 avocado, a few leaves of baby spinach, 350 ml of pineapple juice, 2 kiwi fruits and ice cubes between 5 and 10 to get your preferred consistency. The avocado is a great source of healthy fats, anti-oxydants, vitamin K and potassium, the pineapple adds sweetness while providing magnesium and potassium and helping with articulation pain. Kiwis are full of vitamins great for skin glow and spinach provide calcium (more than dairy products and more assimilable thanks to the presence of vitamin K) great vitamins and a lovely green colour! So what are you waiting for…. go and make one!

Anther option is to replace the kiwis with other fruits such as bananas, oranges, pears or apricots.

I feel very privileged that I have an organic farmer at the bottom of my street I can buy fresh and healthy fruits and vegetables from. It is important to try to get as little as possible endocrine disruptors in our body. Eating organic fruits and vegetables is a great way of avoiding pesticides presence.
